A method of nymphing that uses no suspension indicators and provides more drift and drop control
Originally known as Polish nymphing this technique first appeared during the 1989 World Championships (FIPS Mouche) because of a mistake by the Polish team and a very creative Polish fisherman named Wladyslaw “Vladi” Trzebunia. The mistake was that the Pols forgot their forgot their fly lines (not a joke.) In the subsequent World Championships the Czechs won using this technique. After that for a number of years it was known as Czech nymphing; unless you were in Poland. Several modifications were made to the technique including the use of French sighters. Eventually in the USA it became know as Euro nymphing. Although there are many variations there are common elements such as no flotation indicators, tag connections to all flies except the last fly. The technique provides ultimate in depth and drift control and is quite effective. It also will improve any nymphing technique you use.
